Course Details

FAR Academy teaches this qualification in a unique way with practical aspects developed around the design and build of skateboards. Students get hands on with the art design and wood work.

Using skateboarding as the channel to engage young people on to the positive pathway of learning, through personal achievement and alternative education; the FAR Academy provides a unique learning opportunity which has been tailored to suit vulnerable young people who for what ever reason struggle to learn in a mainstream school.
Aside from the physical benefits regular participation can bring, skateboarding workshops provide the opportunity to learn a gratifying skill in a supportive environment teaching the value of cooperation, respect for others, cheering each other on, and the importance of persistence after failure. Skateboarding is not essential to participation in the course but the diversity and culture of the sport forms the basis of our educational programme.
