This course give is an excellent introduction offering foundation skills for entry into public services enabling the students to develop their time management and self discipline skills needed to meet deadlines for assignments as well as gaining skills to enter public service career paths.
The physical aspects of the course enable the learner to experience the fitness levels expected and the test used to enter the various uniformed public service routes.
Enrichment trips form an important part of the study programme including opportunities with the Army, Marines, Police, Fire Services and the Coastguard.
This allows a good insight into what will be expected of learners in their chosen public service career path as well as the importance of progression routes.
You will learn effective communication skills, the importance of teamwork and good interpersonal skills, the importance of health and fitness and the requirements to work in various public and protective service roles.
You will be assessed by a portfolio of written assignments, practical role plays, observations and internal/external assessments.
This course could lead to a BTEC Diploma in Uniformed Public Service Level 2 or an Apprenticeship within the Public or Protective Services.
There is at least one weeks armed forces or public service work experience within this course.
A variety of enrichment opportunities will include visits, activities and speakers such as:
Overnight camping trips
Visit to the Fire Station
Fitness sessions with the Marines
Visit to the Houses of Parliament
Visit to the Ambulance Station
Problem Solving activities
Support with a local charity project
Guest speakers from the Army, Navy, Police Force, Fire Fighters, Paramedics
A small fee to cover the cost of activities will be payable prior to each activity.
