Course Details

Our course allows young people to gain an NCFE Level 2 in Business and Enterprise.  It runs from September to July (although we are able to accept new students up to the end of December).  We are based at Knight Avenue in Canterbury, which has very good travel links to enable studetns to come from other towns.  The course incorporates business skills within the skateboard culture. It provides students with knowledge on how to set up a new business and provides them with the skills they need to produce their own product plan, marketing and understanding the financial side of starting a business.  The students will be taught how to make their own professional handmade skateboards which they will be encouraged to sell.

However, this is not just restricted to making skateboards; students will have access to a fully functioning construction department and so could also make furniture, crafts, or learn screen printing ........the possibilities are endless.   Within the course the students will be supported in running their own event, which will give them a greater insight into running their own business.

Our classroom is not traditional – we have built a mini ramp in the workshop which students can use!  We have worked hard to build a relaxed environment which puts the students at ease and enable them to work to their best abilities.

Course Benefits

Provides the students with a realistic future in which they can start up their own business in an area that they are passionate about. Our course has been proven to improve young people's self esteem and confidence, which has inturn enabled them to go on to register onto other courses.  Students will also learn essential practical skills which they will be able to use in future opportunities.
